PropTech aedifion raises further millions
  • Drees & Sommer, BeyondBuild, Bauwens X as well as MOMENI extend group of investors including BitStone Capital, Phoenix Contact Innovation Ventures and Business Angels
  • Fresh capital invested in the consistent further development of the software to improve the CO₂ profile of existing and new properties

Cologne, Germany, December 13, 2021

Smart building specialist aedifion GmbH has received further growth capital from influential, industry-related investors in a pre-series A financing round. The seven-digit amount will be used to push the decarbonization of real estate portfolios digitally.

Ensuring ESG compliance

"Building efficiency is the biggest lever for achieving our climate objectives. In most buildings, we are able to start immediately without additional hardware investments," explains aedifion CEO Dr.-Ing. Johannes Fütterer. "On more than 1,000,000 m², our platform is already in operation to continuously and sustainably realize savings potential, ensuring ESG compliance and thus making real estate future-proof. With the support of our old and new investors, we are tapping into this future market even faster now and making a significant contribution towards climate neutrality."

To slow down climate change, action must be taken quickly. Last year, the real estate sector was the only sector in Germany not to meet the targets in the Climate Protection Plan 2050. As a result, the requirements for both existing and new buildings will rise sharply in the coming years. With the plug-and-play approach of the aedifion cloud platform, technical building operations are analyzed automatically and permanently optimized. The use of the solution can save several tons of CO₂ per building and year and refinances itself within a few months.

Huge potential for existing and new buildings

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Bauer, responsible partner on the part of Drees & Sommer SE, underlines the potential of further cooperation: "CO₂ reduction in any portfolio begins with efficient data collection and targeted analysis and optimization of existing plant technology. After this, it can be sensibly decided which investments can be used to achieve further reductions in a modernization or refurbishment strategy. aedifion provides this data as a basis for decision-making, including in various Drees & Sommer buildings and projects."
In addition to Drees & Sommer, BeyondBuild, Bauwens X and MOMENI Digital Ventures, the seed round investors Phoenix Contact Innovation Ventures and BitStone Capital are also participating in the now closed growth financing.

Since 2017, aedifion has been dedicated to the automated optimization of building technology based on many years of research at RWTH Aachen University. The company's cloud platform is used by over 50 well-known customers, including Art-Invest Real Estate, Commerz Real and ECE.
